  • Scope 3 includes categories 1, 3, 6, 11.
  • The 2025 carbon footprint is the first inventory to consolidate Shift’s emissions into a single Redbrick Portfolio GHG Inventory. The 2025 GHG inventory report includes emissions across Redbrick‘s portfolio, including Redbrick’s Shared Services, AnimotoDelivraLeadpagesDuplexDigital Entrepreneurand Paved This approach aligns with GHG Protocol best practices and establishes 2025 as the base year for this expanded organizational scope.
  • Note: All Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions measurements are aligned with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1 best practices.

Plan

  • In Progress

Implement

  • Emissions Reduction Initiatives: Shift has undertaken the following initiatives to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions:
  • Bike-to-Work Incentive: Employees are offered up to $500/year to support the use of bicycles or other low-emission commuting options.
  • Sustainable Catering Practices: In-office catering prioritizes plant-based meal options, lowering the environmental footprint of food consumption.
  • Low-Carbon Procurement: Shift is currently developing a low-carbon procurement strategy to guide more sustainable purchasing decisions.
  • Carbon Offsets Purchased: To address its emissions, Shift has invested in high-quality carbon offset projects that support both climate action and community development:
  • Great Bear Forest Carbon Project
    • Location: British Columbia, Canada
    • Project type: Reduction and avoidance
    • This project protects millions of hectares of old-growth rainforest, reduces carbon emissions, and supports Indigenous-led stewardship. Proceeds from carbon credits fund conservation and community development in local First Nations.
    • Great Bear Rainforest Project: 1,141 tonnes
  • Advancing Low Carbon Cement Solutions
    • Location:  Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Arizona
    • Project type: Removal
    • By replacing traditional Portland cement with smarter alternatives (natural pozzolan, fly ash, and bottom ash), this initiative cuts carbon while making concrete more durable. It gives new life to industrial by-products, supporting a circular economy and greener construction.
    • These alternatives significantly reduce CO₂ emissions by:
      • Avoiding process emissions from heating limestone (a core process in traditional cement manufacturing).
      • Lowering fuel emissions due to less energy-intensive material processing.
    • Advancing Low Carbon Cement: 1,132 tonnes

Lead & Influence

  • Broader Impact Initiatives:
  • Shift launched an annual impact grant via its corporate social responsibility program, Shift Gives, in April 2025 to raise awareness of tech’s impact on the environment and support organizations that are working to create sustainable solutions.
  • Alongside its parent company Redbrick, Shift has been a BCorp since 2024

We’re proud to be partnering with Synergy Enterprises. This partnership allows us to support trusted and high-quality carbon reduction projects while ensuring alignment with GHG accounting best practices and collaboration with expert advisors to deliver real, measurable benefits for the planet.
