  • Scope 3 Categories: 1, 3,  4, 5, 6, 13

32 Lakes Coffee Roasters had measured and offset its carbon emissions from 2020 to 2023. Due to the change in operating location and expansion of scope 3 categories measured, the operational boundary changed, requiring a new baseline to be established for 2024. Previous GHG inventory reports can be found on 32 Lakes’ website.

  • Note: All Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions measurements are aligned with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1 best practices.

Plan

  • To reduce energy use and lower its carbon footprint, 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters plans to decrease energy loss in its warehouse facility. Work is to begin in 2026 and be finished by December 2027.
  • The scope of this project will include:
  • Updating the warehouse garage entry door to include a pedestrian door.
  • Insulating unfinished interior walls and ceiling.

Implement

  • Electric Vehicle Deliveries: 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters purchased an EV in 2022 to replace the company’s gas-powered vehicle for business operations and local deliveries. This change resulted in a reduction of 4.8 tCO2e in 2023 from the previous year in fuel consumption.
  • Low Carbon Shipping: 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters ships BC based deliveries with lower carbon providers (i.e. GeaZone)

Lead & Influence

  • To date, 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters has organized quarterly community cleanups, which have collected 1,876 pounds of garbage from local beaches and roadsides. These events bring together volunteers, staff, and youth in a fun and social atmosphere that leaves participants inspired and motivated to care for their environment.
  • Through its Bean2Soup Program, 32 Lakes has donated 463 soups (as of Nov 03, 2025) to local food banks and seniors’ centres. This program is funded by 1% of all 340g bag sales. Soups are prepared by local foodservice establishments — with priority on sourcing local ingredients — and delivered in frozen.
  • 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters is proud to support Rainforest Alliance Certified farms, valuing their environmental and social commitments. Rainforest Alliance certification costs are structured more inclusively than other similar certifying bodies, keeping fees lower for smaller producers who might otherwise be excluded.
  • As a woman-owned business, 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters aims to amplify equity and inclusivity within its industry.
  • Finally, 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters is committed to only purchasing its decaf offerings from Swiss Water Decaf. This is to ensure that no chemicals are used in the decaffeination process.

At 32 Lakes Coffee Roasters, we see coffee — one of the world’s most traded commodities — as a powerful opportunity to drive positive change. By aligning with the Synergy Climate Action Partner Program, we’re strengthening our accountability, reducing our footprint, and growing in a way that inspires our children and uplifts our community. Our focus is simple: to lead with care — for people, for the planet, and for the future.
